A
few paces from the historic area, Williamsburg's Lavender Sea Bed & Breakfast is a unique lodging experience.
A perfect balance of old and new, our
1938 home has been transformed into a haven for those with a taste for
art, antiques and inviting gardens.
Lavender
has long been used as a soothing herb. In that spirit, we strive
to offer a refuge in the comforting hues found in nature.
Part
ocean, part garden, we have one antique and art-filled room with a
private bath for an overnight stay or a relaxing weekend.
Our inviting second floor bedroom is furnished
with a queen size bed. Abundant pillows, down comforter, soft
cotton sheets, and luxurious handcrafted mattress ensure a
pleasant night's rest. The airy and spacious room includes an
antique iron and brass twin bed for a third person or as a day bed
for lounging. Enjoy a continental breakfast of your choosing
at the antique table and wrought iron chairs overlooking the front
garden.
The room has many creative and lovely features. A few of these
delights are an antique iron gate, hooked floral rugs, and small
conservatory, as well as an arts and crafts period walnut bed with
marble top dresser and washstand. Dried garden flowers and fine
art objects serve to please the senses. A CD player with clock
radio, refrigerator, toaster and coffee maker are available. A nice selection of teas
are also at hand. We have interesting books, games and puzzles for rainy
days.
Mermaids greet you as you enter the bathroom that has been
remodeled to evoke a mystical sea experience. The tub area
is tiled with a lavender wave design including 3-D glass fish and
bubbles bordered by glass art tiles. Handmade soap and
ample cotton robes add to your enjoyment.
Our first floor sitting room is in the midst of being redecorated to blend more harmoniously with the Lavender Sea theme. It provides a relaxing space with
fireplace, antique furniture and Heidi's collection of miniature
treasures.
Arrangements can made to have exclusive use of this room for a
romantic evening with fireplace and DVD player.
Our gardens are a work in progress. Many beautiful mature plants
have already been established including boxwood, crepe myrtle,
grapes, and the protecte Yorktown onion. We will always be changing and growing and our
gardens will reflect that philosophy. Our goal is to create an art garden that
is both beautiful and whimsical.
Our beautiful area is enjoyable all four
seasons. The experiences are almost endless including Yorktown,
Jamestown, Route 5 plantations, The College of William and Mary,
The Williamsburg Winery, as well as Busch Gardens and Water
Country Theme parks. We are one hour from Richmond and
Norfolk/Virginia Beach and 2 ½ hours from Washington DC. For
more information, visit the
Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce or the
Williamsburg Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
